| STORIES FROM THE ARCHIVE |
One of the oldest artefacts in the archive is an early school prospectus. The school is advertised as a prep school for boys between the ages of 6 and 14 with J. Collings as headmaster. There were 60 boarders and 60 dayboys.
As there is today, the prospectus highlights the broad curriculum including music, dramatics and scouting as well as the range of sports on offer from pony club to cricket to tennis. All boys were taught to swim but the swimming pool was originally outside!
Boarding fees included laundry, haircuts and the doctor with the prospectus including photographs of the boarding house.
This is a wonderful piece of history from the early years of the school and shows both similarities and differences between the school in the 1950s and the school some 80 years later. You access a full PDF of the prospectus here.
